Moving in Labrador

Labrador sits on a peninsula between the Broadwater and Coomera River estuary, on the northern edge of Southport. It is one of the Gold Coast's most ethnically diverse suburbs, with a significant proportion of newer apartment buildings from the 2000s and 2010s alongside older single-storey homes. The Broadwater Parklands front directly onto Labrador's eastern edge, and properties overlooking the Broadwater command premium prices. The suburb is accessible via the Seagull Road–Benowa Road corridor, and most residential streets are flat and well-serviced. The newer apartment buildings near the waterfront typically have basement garages and lift access, while the older housing estates further inland have standard driveway and verge access. Labrador is home to a high proportion of owner-occupied retired residents, which means many moves involve decades-accumulated furniture.

Local access & logistics

Every Labrador move starts with the access, because that is what decides the truck, the crew and the timing. Here is what we plan around in Labrador:

  • Newer waterfront apartment buildings (2000s–2010s) have basement parking with standard goods lift access; lift bookings required as per most Gold Coast towers
  • Flat, well-serviced residential streets in the inland section — good truck access throughout most of Labrador
  • High proportion of owner-occupied retirees means moves often involve high volumes and specialty items (pianos, full dining sets, collections)
  • The Broadwater Parklands access road is not truck-accessible — loading for waterfront properties uses street parking on Broadwater Avenue

Send us the pickup and drop-off addresses with your quote and we'll tell you exactly how we'd handle your move, including parking, the carry and any lift or staircase that needs a plan.

Parking on the Gold Coast — council permits and practical reality

The City of Gold Coast council offers a Special Parking Permit for residential moves on metered or time-restricted council streets. Apply via the council's online permits portal at least 3 business days before your move date — permits are free for residential relocations and specify a section of street for one day. For private strata buildings and tower complexes, the relevant authority is the owners corporation (body corporate), not the council — your building manager handles loading bay and goods lift bookings separately. In practice, beachside streets in Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach enforce time limits actively, so a council permit is worth securing for any move on those streets. Inland suburbs (Robina, Varsity Lakes, Nerang) rarely need a formal permit because street parking is unmetered and unrestricted; a truck parked on the verge or in a wide residential street is generally fine.

Labrador removals: common questions

Do I need to book the goods lift in my Labrador waterfront apartment?

Yes — newer apartment buildings in Labrador (predominantly 2000s to 2010s construction) have goods lifts that require booking through the building manager. The process is the same as Gold Coast tower apartments generally: a 2-hour window, advance booking, and a refundable bond. We handle this coordination as part of your booking.

Is parking easy in Labrador for a removal truck?

For the older single-storey homes further from the waterfront, yes — Labrador's inland streets are flat and well-serviced with good verge space. For buildings directly on the Broadwater, loading uses Broadwater Avenue street parking (the Broadwater Parklands road itself does not permit truck parking).

How much does a move in Labrador cost?

Our online-quote rates start at $200/hour for two movers and a truck ($250 for three movers, $400 for a larger crew with two trucks), and you get a clear indicative range up front before you commit. No hidden fees on the day.
